Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Dec 24, Gujarat State Basketball Association (GSBA) has decided to conduct 74th Senior National Basketball Championship at Sports Authority of Gujarat’s sports complex at Sidsar Bhavnagar having one Indoor Stadium and other three outdoor basketball courts from 5th to 12th January 2024.
Secretary GSBA and Vice President BFI Shafiq Shaikh said today, “Basketball Federation of India entrusted us the responsibility to organise the 74th Senior National Basketball Championship for Men and Women in Gujarat”. Gujarat State Basketball Association has decided to conduct the same at Sports Authority of Gujarat’s sports complex at Sidsar Bhavnagar from 5th to 12th January 2024.
He Said Senior National Basketball Championship is the highest level basketball championship of our country. Till date 31 Men and 28 Women teams have confirmed their participation, which will compete for the supremacy in basketball of our country. Championship will be played on league cum knockout basis. Top ten teams as per the ranking of last year will be divided into 2 groups (Group A and Group B Level 1) of 5 teams each. Rest of the teams are divided into 4 groups (Group C, Group D, Group E and Group F Level-2). Four teams each from Group A and Group B will qualify for knock out stage while two top teams from level 2 will qualify for knock out stage. Total 10 teams will qualify for Knockout stage. There will be nearly 170 matches will be played during the eight days tourney.
International players like Arjun Awardee Vishesh Bhruguvanshi, Amjyotsingh, Moin beig, Arvind, Princepalsingh, Amritpalsingh and many other current International players will participate as Indian teams for various International basketball events like Asia Cup, World cup qualifiers, Asian Games and SAF Games will be done from this Championship.
We are also hopeful of Gujarat teams especially Women team which is doing exceedingly well in last couple of years and also the Men team which is undergoing coaching camp under the coaching of Dhyanchand awardee Shri Ramkumar Gahlawat.
Players of Youngsters Basketball Club which is the co-host are working very hard in making the Championship a grand success. Hasmukh Dhamelia, Bhagirath Jadeja, Yogendrasinh Gohil, Hitendrasinh Gohil, Indravijaysinh Gohil, Jayendrasinh Gohil, Devang Joshi and other young and budding stars all are involving themselves and putting all their efforts for the success of the Championship.
