Gandhinagar Gujarat, May 17, Union Home Minister and Member of Parliament from Gandhinagar, Amit Shah staid today, Over the last six years, development projects worth ₹25,000 crore have been carried out in the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency.
Shri Shah, today virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various development projects worth ₹708 crore, undertaken by the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation, Gujarat Urban Development Authority (GUDA), and the Gandhinagar district administration. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi were also present at the event held in Kolavada, Gandhinagar.
On this occasion, Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah stated that Shri Narendra Modi had initiated a transformative development movement during his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat. Today, as Prime Minister, he continues to drive nationwide development with the same vision and commitment. Alongside progress, the Prime Minister has also strengthened the nation’s security across all sectors. He added that under Prime Minister’s leadership continues to strengthen and unify India’s security framework for the future.
Referring to the development works carried out in Gandhinagar, he added that to enhance the amenities for the citizens of Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, various developmental works worth approximately ₹25,000 crore have been undertaken over the last six years. In the Gandhinagar North Assembly constituency alone, projects worth ₹4,260 crore have been implemented.
The Union Minister stated that before Shri Narendra Modi became Prime Minister of India in 2014, India endured repeated Pakistan-sponsored terror attacks, claiming countless lives, with no firm retaliation. But under the decisive leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India has struck back with power and precision. From Uri and Pulwama to Pahalgam, the Indian Armed Forces have responded with surgical strikes, air strikes, and now, Operation Sindoor. In a stunning blow, Operation Sindoor wiped out nine terror camps and command centres of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, leaving global defence experts astonished and India’s security stance stronger than ever.
The Union Minister stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India carried out air strikes 100 km deep inside Pakistan as part of Operation Sindoor—destroying nine terror camps in Bahawalpur and Sialkot and neutralising nearly 15 air bases. Over 100 terrorists were eliminated, delivering a resounding message of India’s military might. The Prime Minister fulfilled the promise he made to the people of India while addressing a rally in Bihar. Pakistan’s drone and missile attacks were shot down mid-air by India’s cutting-edge air defence systems, exposing their inability to match India’s strength.
He said that whenever military operations are discussed worldwide, the success of Operation Sindoor—named to honour Indian women and carried out under the Prime Minister’s leadership—will stand out as a landmark achievement. If terrorists dare to strike India, the nation will respond with double the strength. The Indian Air Force, Navy, and Army have delivered a powerful and decisive reply to Pakistan’s nuclear threats. On behalf of the people of Gandhinagar, I sincerely congratulate and thank the Indian Armed Forces and the Prime Minister for their bold and fearless leadership.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel: Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, on behalf of the entire Gujarat, congratulated the brave soldiers of the Indian Army and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on the remarkable success of Operation Sindoor.
The Chief Minister stated that alongside his crucial role in safeguarding India’s internal security, Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah has equally prioritised the welfare of citizens in his parliamentary constituency. He is dedicated to ensuring that every resident of Gandhinagar has access to essential amenities.
Amid growing urbanization, the state government is firmly resolved to develop transportation, employment, housing, and comprehensive infrastructure facilities in cities, while simultaneously preserving the environment. The year 2025 is being celebrated as the Year of Urban Development. Accordingly, several public welfare initiatives are being undertaken in Gandhinagar, keeping in view the future needs of the city.
Recently, a substantial allocation of ₹771 crore was made from the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana for drainage, water treatment, and social infrastructure development across all areas of the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation. This, he added, will enhance civic amenities for the residents of Gandhinagar.
He stated that due to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister, Gandhinagar today is home to renowned educational institutions such as NFSU, GNLU, PDEU, NID, IIT, and the National Defence University, positioning the city as a prominent education hub.
The Chief Minister highlighted the commitments made by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi towards building Viksit Bharat@2047. He also urged everyone to actively contribute to transforming Gujarat into an environment-friendly state by 2047, in line with the state’s ongoing momentum of growth and development.
The Chief Minister appealed for collective support in realizing several people-centric initiatives such as water and environmental conservation through Catch the Rain, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam, awareness on cleanliness and hygiene, promoting local trade and industry through Vocal for Local, boosting national tourism, and assisting the underprivileged.
At the beginning of the program, Mayor of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation, Smt. Miraben Patel, welcomed everyone and stated that under the guidance of Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, Gandhinagar city is making remarkable strides in development. A series of development works such as gardens, roads, health centers, lakes, schools, pumping stations, and yoga studios in Gandhinagar have successfully been undertaken under his leadership.
Extending congratulations to the brave soldiers of the nation for the grand success of Operation Sindoor, MLA of Gandhinagar North, Smt. Ritaben Patel, stated that with the launch of primary health centers in Vavol and Pethapur within Gandhinagar district, citizens from more than nine nearby villages will now have access to robust healthcare facilities in their vicinity.
During the event, the Union Home Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various development projects and also distributed benefits of several Indian Postal Department schemes to beneficiaries under the Gandhinagar Postal Division. The large crowd at Kolavada warmly greeted all dignitaries with chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” while waving the national flag.
The event was attended by Member of Parliament from Ahmedabad East Hasmukhbhai Patel, MLA of Gandhinagar South Alpeshbhai Thakor, along with various officials from Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation and the district administration, senior officers, and a large number of citizens.
