~AESL wins a Rs 4,700 crore Maharashtra transmission project to evacuate 4,500 MW of renewable and storage power, strengthening grid connectivity.

Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Aug 26 (VNI): Adani Energy Solutions Ltd. (AESL), India’s largest private transmission and distribution company and part of the Adani portfolio, has won a key transmission project worth approximately Rs 4,700 crore in Maharashtra for the evacuation of 4,500 MW of renewable and storage power.
According to AESL, the project, involving an estimated capital expenditure of around Rs 4,700 crore, will also support the growing pumped storage ecosystem across Satara, Pune and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
The project, titled “Network Expansion Scheme in Western Region to Cater to Pumped Storage Potential near Satara (up to 4500 MW) – Part A,” was awarded through the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process, with AESL emerging as the lowest bidder.
Housed under the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) Satara Power Transmission Ltd., the project is scheduled to be delivered within 36 months. It will add 562 circuit kilometres (ckm) of transmission lines and 9,000 MVA of transformation capacity to AESL’s portfolio, taking its cumulative transmission network to 29,739 ckm and transformation capacity to 1,43,425 MVA.

The Satara transmission project will create a vital transmission backbone to support both renewable energy evacuation and energy storage deployment, strengthening power flows between Southern and Western India. The project includes the establishment of a 765/400 kV substation at Satara, a Kolhapur-Satara 765 kV double-circuit transmission line, and augmentation of the Kolhapur pooling station along with associated transmission infrastructure.
As India works towards its target of installing 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030, transmission infrastructure is expected to play a critical role in integrating renewable energy into the national grid. AESL continues to develop transmission schemes connecting renewable energy-rich regions, including solar, wind and pumped storage zones, with major industrial and urban load centres across India.
