~Adani Energy Solutions Ltd. wins an ₹8,500 crore interstate transmission project in Andhra Pradesh to support green hydrogen, green ammonia and data centre infrastructure in the Vizag region.

Ahmedabad, July 24 (VNI): Adani Energy Solutions Ltd. (AESL) has secured an interstate transmission project worth approximately ₹8,500 crore in Andhra Pradesh under the Government of India’s Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) framework. The project, titled “Transmission System for Proposed Green Hydrogen/Green Ammonia Projects in Vizag Area, Andhra Pradesh (Phase-I),” will strengthen power infrastructure for upcoming green energy and digital infrastructure projects in the region.
According to the company, the transmission system will facilitate power supply to proposed green hydrogen and green ammonia projects in the Vizag area, catering to an estimated demand of 4,500 MW. The project will also support rising electricity demand from the Pendurthi–Vizag region, where major investments in data centres and digital infrastructure are underway.
The project will be executed through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), Vizag Power Transmission Ltd. It includes the establishment of a 4×1500 MVA, 765/400 kV GIS substation at Pendurthi (Vizag) and a 3×1500 MVA, 765/400 kV substation at Khammam-II. Upon completion, AESL will add 1,582 circuit kilometres (ckm) of transmission lines and 10,500 MVA of transformation capacity, increasing its overall transmission network to 29,531 ckm and 1,33,675 MVA of transformation capacity.
AESL CEO Kandarp Patel said the Vizag project would create a strong energy backbone for India’s next phase of industrial growth by supporting green hydrogen, green ammonia and expanding digital infrastructure. He said the company remains committed to building resilient and future-ready transmission networks that contribute to sustainable development.
The company noted that Vizag is rapidly emerging as a major hub for AI-driven hyperscale data centres, subsea connectivity, logistics, clean energy and industrial infrastructure. The transmission project is scheduled to be completed within 30 months.
