Ahmedabad, May 18, Union Home and Cooperation Minister and Gandhinagar Lok Sabha MP Amit Shah inaugurated the Pallav Bridge and laid the foundation stone for a total of 94 public-centric development projects valued at approximately ₹1,593 crores in Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and Gandhinagar Lok Sabha areas.
The event, held at Pallav Chowk in Ahmedabad, was graced by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Minister of State Jagdish Vishwakarma, and Ahmedabad Mayor Pratibha Jain.
Shri Amit Shah stated that he has lived in the Naranpura area of Ahmedabad for 40 years. Seeing such a grand Pallav Bridge today fills his heart with joy. He further added that today, people have received the gift of over 1,550 development projects in a single day. He also lauded the leadership of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and the Chief Minister for this achievement.
The Union Minister further said that if we all pledge to ‘One Citizen, One Tree,’ the impact of global warming in Ahmedabad could be reduced by more than half. He urged the youth of Ahmedabad, aged between 15 to 25, to plant and nurture trees under the Prime Minister’s ‘Ek Ped Maa ke Naam’ initiative, as a way to express gratitude to their mother and repay their debt to Mother Earth. He said that every society should commit to planting 15 to 50 trees. The AMC has pledged to plant 40 lakh trees in one year, and it has appealed to the citizens to join this initiative.
While paying tribute to the civilians who lost their lives in the Pahalgam terrorist attack, the Union Minister lauded the Indian Army for delivering a strong and decisive response to the terrorists. He said that after the Pahalgam attack, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi fulfilled his promise he made to the people of India, while addressing a rally in Bihar. Earlier, surgical strikes and air strikes were limited to PoK, but under Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army crossed 100 kilometers inside the Pakistani border to neutralize terrorists, he added.
The Union Minister further said that besides eliminating terrorists under Operation Sindoor, a major achievement was exposing Pakistan on the global stage. It is evident to the world that terrorist hideouts exist in Pakistan, which fosters terrorism. The resolute response to Pakistan was made possible by the bravery, preparedness, and striking capability of the Indian Armed Forces, along with the Prime Minister’s strong political will. Today, youth across the globe are browsing the internet to learn about the BrahMos missile developed in India, he added.
Regarding Operation Sindoor, the Union Minister stated that whenever the history of the country’s security and border protection is written, Operation Sindoor will be inscribed in golden letters. Operation Sindoor is the greatest honour bestowed upon the Matru Shakti (Mothers) of India. Over the past 11 years, the Prime Minister has made three things clear in his national addresses: Blood and Indus water cannot flow together; trade and terrorism cannot coexist; and India will now only engage in talks regarding PoK and terrorism. The entire nation of 140 crore people today praises the Prime Minister’s strong political will, the bravery and preparedness of the Indian Armed Forces, and the precise intelligence of the secret agencies.
An added matter of pride for Gujarat is that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is a son of Gujarat.
He further added that besides economic strength, a strong foundation has also been laid in the defence sector in the past 11 years.
On this occasion, the Union Minister also expressed happiness over the Khadi and Village Industries Board providing employment opportunities to over 1,000 beneficiaries.

Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel stated that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, development has been prioritized. Today’s celebration of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s progress marks a significant milestone in this ongoing journey. He said that the people of Ahmedabad have been gifted various development projects valued at ₹1,593 crores, reflecting a steadfast commitment to integrate every individual, community, and area into the mainstream of development.
Speaking further, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel said that the development politics initiated by the then-Chief Minister and current Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation for the gift Ahmedabad’s citizens are receiving today. Everyone is aware of the situation Gujarat was in before Shri Narendra Modi took charge—there was no reliable electricity supply, and farmers used to plead for power during the harvest season. Shri Narendra Modi has transformed Gujarat from those adverse conditions. Today, Gujarat enjoys a 24-hour electricity supply, a robust road network has been established across the state, and Narmada water is being supplied to Kutch, he added.`
Speaking about Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s dream is for every citizen of the country to have a secure roof over their head. To realize this vision, he launched Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana across the nation. Under this scheme, over 13 lakh houses have been constructed in Gujarat alone under the urban component. Today, an additional 3,501 houses are being allotted in Ahmedabad by Shri Amit Shah, which is a matter of great pride for all of us.
Shri Bhupendra Patel further stated that, to enable people to gain employment through their skills and hard work, machinery and toolkits have been distributed under various rural industry schemes. Furthermore , appointment letters were handed over to 700 youths by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. The Chief Minister extended his best wishes to all the newly appointed youths.
Today’s event, centred on development efforts in housing, transportation, self-reliance, and employment, embodies the motto of Earning Well and Living Well for the people of Ahmedabad.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister appealed to promote the Prime Minister’s campaigns such as Swachhta (Cleanliness), Catch the Rain, and Ek Ped Maa ke Naam to build sustainable, environmentally friendly, clean, and well-equipped cities.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel said that under the steadfast leadership of Gujarat’s sons, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, the morale of the security forces has been continually bolstered in the fight against terrorism, Naxalism, and anti-national threats. Their leadership has ensured a strong and decisive response to terrorism both across and within the nation’s borders, safeguarding the peace and security of the citizens.
CM further added that the Indian Army’s courageous success in Operation Sindoor has inspired a strong sense of patriotism among the people, reinforcing the commitment to put the nation first and deepening pride in the national flag.
At the beginning of the program, Ahmedabad Mayor Smt. Pratibha Jain extended a warm welcome to all and said that it is a matter of great pride for the citizens of Ahmedabad to receive the gift of 94 development projects worth ₹1,593 crores. These projects were inaugurated by Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah in the presence of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel.
On this occasion, Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah handed over appointment letters to more than 700 newly appointed junior clerks in the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. Moreover, under the Gramodyog Yojana facilitated by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, various artisans were provided with electric power looms, sewing machines, and incense stick-making machines. The event also included the allotment draw for houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
The event was attended by Ahmedabad East MP Shri Hasmukh Patel, Ahmedabad West MP Shri Dinesh Makwana, Rajya Sabha MP Shri Narhari Amin, all MLAs from Ahmedabad, Municipal Commissioner Shri Banchhanidhi Pani, Chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission Shri Manoj Kumar, as well as various officials from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and the district administration. A large number of citizens.
Notably, Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for a total of 94 citizen-centric development projects, estimated at a cost of ₹1,593 crores, across the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency as well as the Ahmedabad East and West Lok Sabha constituencies.
Inauguration of development projects include 34 citizen-centric initiatives worth ₹394 crores, along with a housing allotment draw. Housing projects worth ₹170 crores, Bridge projects at a cost of ₹116 crores, Water supply and drainage projects totaling ₹86 crores, Urban health centers, worker welfare centers, and Anganwadi projects worth ₹17 crores, Garden and cultural projects costing ₹5 crores.
On this occasion, Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah laid the foundation stone for 60 citizen-centric development projects worth ₹119 crores, which includes Bridge projects amounting to ₹579 crores, Water supply and drainage projects with an investment of ₹356 crores, Public utility projects worth ₹222 crores, encompassing vegetable markets, labor welfare centers, Ahmedabad Haat, food parks, school playgrounds, party plots, women’s gyms, and urban health centers, Garden and lakefront development projects totaling ₹42 crores.
