Ahmedabad, Oct 22, Department of Posts is organizing ‘DhaiAkhar’ National Letter Writing Competition on the topic ‘The Joy of Writing:The Importance of Letters in the Digital Age.’
Postmaster General of the North Gujarat Region, Ahmedabad Krishna Kumar Yadav, said that various schools and colleges can collaborate with the Department of Posts to organize this event. Participants will be required to write a letter expressing their thoughts, addressed to the Chief Postmaster General, Gujarat Circle, Ahmedabad with full name, address, date of birth, mobile number and name of the school. Selected letters in this competition will be eligible for prizes ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹50,000. The last date for submission is December 14, 2024.
Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that people of any age can participate in ‘DhaiAkhar’ letter writing competition. The first category will be up to 18 years and the second will be above 18 years of age. Letter will be accepted only in an inland letter or in envelope issued by the Department of Posts, in which letter can be written by hand in English, Hindi or any vernacular language in 500 and 1,000 words respectively.
Postmaster General informed that three prizes each in different 4 categories will be given to the winners of the competition at the Circle and National levels. Best letter selected at the Circle (State) will be given prizes of ₹25,000/-, ₹10,000/- and ₹5,000/- in the first, second and third category respectively. Prizes of ₹50,000/-, ₹25,000/- and ₹10,000/-will be given to the best letters selected at National level in first, second and third category respectively. Overall, prizes worth Rs. 40.20 lakhs will be given to the winners across the country. For more information, participants can contact the Superintendents of their respective Divisions and the Postmasters of the Head Post offices.
Shri Yadav said that The DhaiAkhar National Level Letter Writing Campaign is not only a celebration of the art of letter writing, but it is also an opportunity for individuals across the country to express their thoughts, feelings, and ideas in a meaningful and heartfelt manner. It encourages creativity, originality, and self-expression and provides a platform for individuals to display their writing skills and talents. In today’s fast- paced world, where communication has largely shifted to digital platforms, the art of letter writing remains vibrant. Letters hold a special place in our hearts as they carry with them a sense of nostalgia, warmth, and personal touch that is hard to replicate in a text message or an email. The DhaiAkhar Campaign not only promotes the art of letter writing but also fosters creativity, critical thinking, and empathy among participants.
PMG Shri KK Yadav further added that, Handwriting is a foundational skill that can influence students’ reading, writing, language use, and critical thinking. It has an important role in brain development. It is necessary to teach children to write, alongside technology in the classroom, as it promotes success in other academic subjects. Postmaster General, Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav invites everyone to take part in this wonderful opportunity and express their emotions through their writing.
