~Gautam Adani visited Mahudi Jain Temple in Gujarat with his family ahead of Paryushan Mahaparva, offering prayers and seeking blessings.
Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Aug 19 (VNI): Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, visited the revered Mahudi Jain Temple in Gandhinagar district of Gujarat on Wednesday morning along with his family and offered prayers ahead of the Paryushan Mahaparva.
Mr Adani was accompanied by his wife, Dr Priti Adani, elder son Karan Adani and daughter-in-law Paridhi Adani. The family sought blessings as the Jain community prepares to observe Paryushan Mahaparva, which will be celebrated from September 8 to 15, 2026.
For Mr Adani, the visit carries a personal connection with the value of seva (selfless service), which has been central to his social contribution. Through the Adani Foundation, he has supported initiatives in education, healthcare, livelihoods, rural development, women’s empowerment and community infrastructure across India. His philosophy, “Seva Hi Sadhana Hai” (Selfless service is the highest form of worship), reflects his emphasis on community service and social development.
Mahudi, historically known as Madhupuri, is a prominent Shwetambar Jain pilgrimage centre. The tirth houses temples dedicated to all 24 Jain Tirthankaras and a separate shrine of Shri Ghantakarna Mahavir, revered as a protective deity. Devotees worship Ghantakarna Mahavir seeking strength and protection and to overcome obstacles.
The visit comes days after proceedings by the US Department of Justice involving Mr Adani, his nephew Sagar Adani, Executive Director of Adani Green Energy Limited, and others ended with the indictment being dismissed with prejudice on August 10.
Paryushan Mahaparva, one of the most important festivals in the Shwetambar Jain tradition, is a period of prayer, fasting, self-discipline and introspection. The observance culminates in Samvatsari on September 15, the Festival of Forgiveness, when Jains seek forgiveness from all living beings and extend forgiveness to others.
The Mahudi visit follows Mr Adani and Dr Priti Adani’s visit earlier this year to the Shri Ajitnath Bhagwan Shwetamber Jain Derasar at Taranga Hills in North Gujarat, where they offered prayers on Akshaya Tritiya.
At Mahudi, the Adani family came together for prayer, gratitude and reflection, underscoring the values of faith, humility, compassion, service and forgiveness associated with the spirit of “Seva Hi Sadhana Hai”.
