~MCXBULLDEX futures reaches at 21959: MCX records turnover of Rs.178684.9 crores in Commodity Futures & Rs.1137738.62 crores in Options, during the week of May 23 to 29
Mumbai, Maharashtra, May 31, GOLD futures drops by 0.15% and CRUDEOIL futures by 0.95%, while SILVER futures gains by 0.03% on MCX.
MCX sources said WEEKLY MARKET REPORT today, During the week of May 23 to 29, the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), India’s leading commodity derivatives exchange, recorded a turnover of Rs.13,16,435.70 crore across various commodity futures, options, and index futures. Commodity futures saw transactions worth Rs.1,78,684.90 crore, while commodity options recorded a notional turnover of Rs.11,37,738.62 crore. The Bullion Index Buldex June futures closed at 21,959 points. The total premium turnover in commodity options was Rs.15,375.02 crore.
During the week under review, trading in precious metals, specifically gold and silver futures, amounted to ₹1,36,390.07 crore. MCX Gold June futures opened at ₹95,557 per 10 grams, reached an intra-day high of ₹96,550 and a low of ₹94,500, and closed at ₹95,389 per 10 grams, down ₹147 or 0.15% from the previous close of ₹95,536. Gold-Guinea June futures rose by ₹67 or 0.09%, closing at ₹77,040 per 8 grams. Gold-Petal June futures gained ₹10 or 0.1%, closing at ₹9,668 per 1 gram. Gold-Mini June futures opened at ₹95,529, hit an intra-day high of ₹96,359 and a low of ₹94,451, and closed at ₹95,295 per 10 grams, down ₹166 or 0.17%. Gold-Ten June futures opened at ₹95,501 per 10 grams, touched an intra-day high of ₹96,978 and a low of ₹95,165, and closed at ₹96,129 per 10 grams, up ₹45 or 0.05% from the previous close of ₹96,084.
In silver futures, Silver July futures opened at ₹97,897 per kg, reached an intra-day high of ₹98,449 and a low of ₹96,496, and closed at ₹97,826 per kg, up ₹30 or 0.03% from the previous close of ₹97,796. Silver-Mini June futures rose by ₹44 or 0.05%, closing at ₹97,715 per kg. Silver-Micro June futures gained ₹33 or 0.03%, closing at ₹97,704 per kg.
In the base metals segment, trading worth ₹11,403.94 crore was recorded. Copper June futures fell by ₹2.1 or 0.24%, closing at ₹862.25 per kg. Zinc June futures dropped by ₹3.6 or 1.4%, closing at ₹254.3 per kg. Aluminium June futures declined by ₹2.4 or 1%, closing at ₹236.45 per kg. Lead June futures fell by ₹0.10 or 0.06%, closing at ₹178.2 per kg.
In the energy segment, traders executed deals worth ₹30,872.07 crore. MCX Crude Oil June futures opened at ₹5,249 per barrel, hit an intra-day high of ₹5,398 and a low of ₹5,149, and closed at ₹5,215 per barrel, down ₹50 or 0.95% from the previous close of ₹5,265. Crude Oil-Mini June futures fell by ₹46 or 0.87%, closing at ₹5,219 per barrel. Natural Gas June futures opened at ₹315.5, reached an intra-day high of ₹327.5 and a low of ₹294.4, and closed at ₹299.4 per MMBtu, down ₹14.4 or 4.59% from the previous close of ₹313.8. Natural Gas-Mini June futures also fell by ₹14.4 or 4.59%, closing at ₹299.3 per MMBtu.
In agricultural commodities, Mentha Oil June futures opened at ₹917.1 and closed at ₹913.2 per kg, down ₹6 or 0.65%. Cotton Candy July futures fell by ₹540 or 0.98%, closing at ₹54,450 per candy.
From a trading perspective, MCX recorded ₹1,06,867.42 crore in various gold contracts and ₹29,522.65 crore in silver contracts during the week. Additionally, copper futures saw ₹7,273.27 crore, aluminium and aluminium-mini futures ₹1,383.67 crore, lead and lead-mini futures ₹167.87 crore, and zinc and zinc-mini futures ₹2,579.13 crore in trading.
Crude oil and crude oil-mini futures recorded ₹7,840.98 crore in trades, while natural gas and natural gas-mini futures saw ₹23,031.09 crore. Mentha oil futures recorded ₹9.50 crore, and cotton candy futures saw ₹9.32 crore in trading.
Open interest at the end of the week stood at 2,038 lots for gold futures, 6,519 lots for gold-mini futures, 6,776 lots for gold-guinea futures, 89,114 lots for gold-petal futures, and 7,830 lots for gold-ten futures. Silver futures had 18,264 lots, silver-mini futures 24,677 lots, and silver-micro futures 72,567 lots. Crude oil futures had 11,683 lots, and natural gas futures had 13,730 lots.
In index futures, Buldex June futures opened at 22,100 points, reached an intra-day high of 22,100 and a low of 21,854, and closed at 21,959 points, down 116 points.
