Ahmedabad, Nov 22, Gujarat Technological University (GTU) hosted a crucial talk on “Intellectual Property Rights: The Foundation for strategic Nation Building” at GTU Chandkheda Campus in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
According to a press release issued by GTU today The event, held at GTU’s Chandkheda Campus, aimed to signify the importance of IPR in fostering innovation, protecting creative works, and driving economic development. By safeguarding the rights of inventors, creators, and businesses, IPR helps to build a robust framework for research and development, encourages investment in new technologies, and promotes fair competition. This foundation supports strategic nation-building by ensuring that intellectual assets are recognized, valued, and protected, and thereby contributing to the overall growth and prosperity of the country.
The Expert session was delivered Dr. Dhanpat Ram Agarwal, who is a Chartered Accountant with over 42 years of experience in audit and taxation. He holds PhD in Economics from North Bengal University. Dr. Agarwal has contributed significantly to research in international trade, taxation laws, and IPR, and has represented India at various global conferences, including WTO Ministerial Conference.
The talk was exceptionally enriching and truly captured the essence of the theme “IPR: Foundation of Strategic Nation Building.” It explored the economic, cultural, and political frameworks essential for fostering innovation and highlighted the pivotal role of a robust intellectual property ecosystem and the role of IP assets in building national economies. Additionally, Dr. Dhanpat Ram Agarwal underscored the importance of achieving self-reliance (Swavalambi) by developing Indian technologies, products, etc., and thus contributing significantly to the nation’s intellectual property assets.
Dr. R. K. Gajjar, Honourable Vice-Chancellor of GTU, highlighted that over the years thousands of faculty and students have been comprehensively trained in IPR by the university. We also run PGDIPR program since many years for working professionals and recently, DPIIT has granted IPR-Chair under SPRIHA. All these initiatives raise awareness about the importance of IPR and ensure that innovations are recognized and valued. To further support the innovation, university also provides funding through various schemes to assist inventors in developing start-ups and creating new products.
These efforts marks GTU’s committed investment in the future of our workforce and the economic landscape of our nation as envisioned by our Prime Minister. This reflect GTU’s ongoing efforts to position India at the forefront of Intellectual Property Rights.
