~IAACON 2026 in Ahmedabad will showcase AI, robotics and advanced joint replacement techniques, alongside IAA’s first large-scale cadaveric surgical workshop.
Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Sep 29 (VNI): Artificial intelligence (AI), robotics and advanced surgical technologies will take centre stage at IAACON 2026, the 22nd Annual Conference of the Indian Arthroplasty Association (IAA), to be held from October 23 to 25 at Club O7, Ahmedabad. The conference, themed “Evolving Arthroplasty – Robotics, Kinematics and Innovation”, will bring together more than 1,000 registered delegates and 180 national and international faculty to discuss the future of joint replacement surgery.
The conference will spotlight AI-assisted instruments, robotics and 3D camera-assisted surgery, with dedicated sessions on advanced surgical navigation and precision in joint replacement. Dr. H.P. Bhalodia, Organising Chairman, will conduct a session on AI-assisted total hip replacement using Intellijoint technology. The programme will also feature Unicondylar Knee Arthroplasty and Total Hip Replacement demonstrations, around 30 surgical videos and expert panel discussions on complex cases, rare periprosthetic fractures and challenging joint infections.
A major highlight will be the IAA’s first large-scale cadaveric workshop, scheduled for October 22 at B.J. Medical College and Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad. Using 12 cadaveric specimens, the workshop will demonstrate Direct Anterior Approach hip replacement, Unicondylar Knee Arthroplasty, Total Knee Arthroplasty and Reverse Shoulder Arthroplasty. Ten international faculty members from Australia, Ireland, the United States and the United Kingdom will participate in the workshop.
The scientific programme will include the presentation of the IAA consensus document aimed at guiding younger surgeons on established surgical approaches and supporting consistent clinical decision-making. The conference will feature 25 scientific sessions, practical take-home messages, open discussions, workshops using anatomical bone models, and sessions covering robotic and non-robotic approaches, Relive and InBox surgical sessions. The organisers said the programme has been designed to provide extensive academic exchange and practical learning for arthroplasty specialists.
IAACON 2026 will also introduce the C.S. Ranawat Gold Medal Competition, which has received around 140 submissions, with two papers to be selected. Dr. Parag Sancheti will deliver the inaugural C.S. Ranawat Memorial Lecture, while inaugural and valedictory ceremonies will also form part of the three-day conference. Organising Chairman Dr. H.P.
