~IIM Ahmedabad opens admissions for the second batch of its two-year Blended MBA in Business Analytics and AI for working professionals and entrepreneurs.
Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Oct 14 (VNI): The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has announced admissions for the second batch of its two-year Blended MBA Programme in Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (BPGP: BA & AI), designed for working professionals and entrepreneurs seeking to strengthen their analytical capabilities and apply emerging technologies to strategic and operational business decisions. The programme aims to develop business leaders who can interpret complex data, evaluate new technologies and make informed decisions in an increasingly data-driven business environment.
The announcement was made at an event held on the IIMA campus in the presence of Prof. Bharat Bhasker, Director, IIMA; Prof. Diptesh Ghosh, Dean (Programmes), IIMA; Prof. Anindya S. Chakrabarti, Chairperson, BPGP: BA & AI, IIMA; and Prof. Ankur Sinha, Chairperson, Krishnamurthy Tandon School of AI, IIMA. Chandrika Tandon, business leader, humanitarian, Grammy Award-winning musician and alumna of IIMA’s PGP Class of 1975, joined the event virtually. She established the Krishnamurthy Tandon School of AI at IIMA through a generous endowment.
The programme reaffirms IIMA’s commitment to advancing management education in response to evolving business requirements while maintaining the academic rigour, research orientation and practical relevance for which the Institute is recognised.
Commenting on the announcement of the second batch, Prof. Bharat Bhasker said that one of the most important lessons at IIM Ahmedabad is to examine a problem carefully before arriving at a decision. He noted that although managers today have access to increasingly sophisticated analytical tools, they must understand the assumptions and limitations behind the answers these tools generate. Through the programme’s second batch, IIMA aims to strengthen the combination of technical competence, independent thinking and managerial responsibility among aspiring business leaders.
Highlighting the importance of artificial intelligence and the programme, Chandrika Tandon said that powerful tools alone cannot determine which problems deserve attention. She explained that the vision behind the Krishnamurthy Tandon School of AI places people, institutions and purpose at the centre of technological development. She expressed hope that the programme would encourage managers to think critically and develop solutions that create value for the economy and society. She added that the initiative would help IIMA remain ahead of evolving management requirements and develop forward-thinking managers, leaders and institution builders.
Prof. Anindya S. Chakrabarti said the curriculum integrates mathematical modelling, programming and machine learning with core management disciplines, including finance and strategy. Through case discussions, capstone assignments and action-learning projects, participants will learn to critically assess analytical recommendations, understand their practical implications and apply insights to complex business decisions.
The programme addresses the growing demand for managers capable of evaluating evidence, assessing opportunities and risks, and making effective investment decisions as Indian companies expand their adoption of AI despite gaps in organisational preparedness. The Blended MBA in Business Analytics and AI is intended to serve professionals across sectors and functions, including finance, marketing, operations, supply chain, logistics, legal, information technology and human resources.
Spanning six terms over two years, the programme combines live, direct-to-device classes with three on-campus modules to accommodate the needs of working professionals. Its curriculum covers management, statistics, analytical modelling, machine learning and advanced AI through case studies, simulations, capstone assignments and action-learning projects.
The programme offers a broad range of electives, including Predictive and Prescriptive Analytics, Product Management, Finance and Risk Management, Human–AI Collaboration and Change Management, AI Ethics, Policy and Regulation, Supply Chain Digitisation, Generative AI and Agentic AI. IIMA’s case-based teaching approach will connect analytical learning with commercial, organisational and ethical considerations.
Participants will have remote access to the Institute’s academic and research resources throughout the programme, including the Vikram Sarabhai Library, computing infrastructure and an extensive collection of databases. The programme also provides an exit option after the first year, leading to a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Analytics and AI. Participants who complete the full two-year MBA will join IIMA’s global alumni network.
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree, CA, CS, ICWA, CMA or an equivalent qualification in any discipline from a recognised university, with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks or an equivalent CGPA.
Working professionals and entrepreneurs must have at least three years of full-time work experience after a three-year undergraduate degree under the 10+2+3+3 structure, or at least two years of full-time work experience after a four-year undergraduate degree under the 10+2+4+2 structure. The work experience requirement will be calculated as of March 31, 2027.
Candidates must submit a valid CAT, GMAT or GRE score obtained within the preceding five years, with test dates no earlier than January 1, 2022. Scores from both the GMAT Classic and GMAT Focus Edition will be accepted. Alternatively, applicants may appear for the Round 1 IIMA Admission Test for BPGP: BA & AI as part of the Institute’s selection process.
