Gandhinagar (Gujarat), Aug 21, The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed today.
According to a press release issued by IITGN here today, This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the advancement of high-tech security products, as ECIL, renowned for its cutting-edge contributions, establishes its presence within IITGN’s prestigious Research Park.
The Research Park at IITGN is a pioneering initiative designed to bridge the gap between academic research and industry needs. By fostering collaboration between researchers and industry professionals, the Park is a catalyst for innovation and technological advancements. Speaking on this transformative partnership, Dr. Anesh Kumar Sharma, Director (Technical) at ECIL, emphasized, “IITGN stands out with its strong faculty and a Research Park that is a breeding ground for niche technologies. This industry-academia alliance will empower us to tackle complex challenges and deliver solutions with far-reaching impact across various sectors.”
In a promising joint venture, Prof. Shanmuganathan Raman, Jibaben Patel Chair Associate Professor of Computer Science & Engineering (jointly with Electrical Engineering) at IITGN, is actively collaborating with ECIL on the development of advanced Under Vehicle Surveillance (UVS) Systems. These systems are poised to revolutionize the security landscape by detecting harmful foreign objects and other potential threats. Commenting on the institute’s role in this groundbreaking work, Prof. Rajat Moona, Director of IITGN, remarked, “The ECIL center at our Research Park is expected to operate in close synergy with our Institute, enabling the free exchange of ideas and technological innovation with robust support from our academic community.”
