Ahmedabad, Gujarat, July 29 (VNI): Reliance Jio emerged as India’s fastest-growing telecom operator in terms of active wireless subscribers during June 2026, adding 3.33 million active (VLR) subscribers, according to the latest data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
Jio’s active subscriber base increased to 498.90 million, giving it a 41.5% share of India’s 1,201.06 million active wireless subscribers. The company outperformed Bharti Airtel, which added 2.92 million active users, while Vodafone Idea and BSNL/MTNL reported declines in their active subscriber base.
Jio also maintained its position as India’s largest wireless operator, ending June with 503.58 million mobile subscribers and a 39.3% market share after adding 2.15 million subscribers during the month. In the wireline segment, Jio remained the country’s leading fixed-line operator with 15.63 million subscribers, accounting for a 32.7% market share, after adding 144,057 new connections.
The company further strengthened its dominance in the 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) segment with 9.11 million subscribers, representing 70.5% of India’s total 12.94 million 5G FWA subscribers. Jio recorded the highest monthly FWA addition of 145,790 subscribers and continued to be the only operator offering 5G Unlicensed Band Radio (UBR) fixed wireless services, expanding its UBR subscriber base to 4.93 million with 201,302 new additions in June.
According to TRAI, India’s overall telephone subscriber base reached 1,348.08 million at the end of June 2026, registering a net addition of 4.98 million subscribers during the month.
