Mumbai, Maharashtra, Jan 04, MCX Crude oil futures gains by Rs.323 and natural gas gains by Rs.36.70.
According to MCX Weekly Market Report today, Indias leading commodity derivatives exchange, Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) has recorded turnover of Rs.8,71,138.53 crore in various futures & option contracts for commodities listed at MCX during the week of December 27, 2024 to January 2, 2025. A movement of 375 points was seen in the January futures of the precious metals index Bulldex.
In precious metals futures, gold-silver witnessed a total trading volume of Rs.52,588.04 crore on MCX during the week. In gold contracts, MCX gold February futures per 10 gram opened the week at Rs.76,928, touched intra-day high of Rs.77,810 and low of Rs.76,018 during the week and closed the week at Rs.77,717 with a gain of Rs.890. Against this, Gold-Guinea January contract rose by Rs.625 per 8 gram to Rs.62,611 and Gold-Petal January contract rose by Rs.46 per 1 gram to Rs.7,725. Gold-Mini February futures opened at Rs.76,886 per 10 gram and rose by Rs.870 to reached Rs.77,684. In silver futures, Silver March futures per 1 kg opened the week at Rs.89,815 and touched an intra-day high of Rs.90,249 and a low of Rs.87,060 during the week and closed the week at Rs.89,173, down by Rs.463. Silver-Mini February contract fell Rs.456 to Rs.89,209 and Silver-Micro February contract fell Rs.457 to Rs.89,224.
In metals futures, MCX witnessed a turnover of Rs.8,936.18 crore. Aluminium January futures fell Rs.1.10 to Rs.240.30 per 1 kg and Zinc January futures fell Rs.7.05 to Rs.276. In contrast, Copper January contract fell Rs.12.20 to Rs.794.85 and Lead January contract fell Rs.1.35 to Rs.177.
In energy segment futures, MCX witnessed a turnover of Rs.47,761.45 crore. Crude Oil January futures opened the week at Rs.5,962, touched an intra-day high of Rs.6,330 and a low of Rs.5,958 during the week and closed the week at Rs.6,299, up by Rs.323 per barrel, while Natural Gas January futures rose by Rs.36.70 to close at Rs.318.60 per 1 MMBTU.
Agricultural commodities witnessed a turnover of Rs.18.09 crore in 437 deals on MCX. Cotton Candy January futures opened at Rs.54,630 per candy, touched an intra-day high of Rs.56,000 and a low of Rs.53,720 during the week and closed the week at Rs.54,440, up by Rs.10. Mentha oil futures January contract rose by Rs.9.90 per 1 kg to Rs.940.80.
In terms of trading, among precious metals on MCX, 38,992.614 kg of gold futures were traded worth Rs.29,944.39 crore and 2,553.878 tonnes of silver futures were traded worth Rs.22,643.65 crore. In the energy segment, 66,67,900 barrels of crude oil futures were traded worth Rs.4,091.04 crore and 1,18,88,01,250 MMBTU of natural gas futures were traded worth Rs.37,605 crore. In agricultural commodities, cotton candy futures traded 3120 candies worth Rs.4.23 crore, mentha oil contracts traded 146.52 tonnes worth Rs.13.74 crore.
Open interest at the end of the week stood at 18,505.776 kg in gold futures and 1,540.588 tonnes in silver futures, 1508100 barrels in crude oil and 1,91,01,250 MMBTU in natural gas and 18096 candies in cotton candy and 180.36 tonnes in mentha oil.
Talking about index futures, 124 lots worth Rs.11.58 crore were traded in Bulldex futures on MCX during the week. Open interest stood at 55 lots in Bulldex futures. Bulldex January futures opened at 18,736, moved up 120 points to reach 18,830 with a movement of 375 points.
Options on Futures recorded a notional turnover of Rs.7,61,823.19 crore in 56,17,169 trades on MCX. Call and put options of gold traded for Rs.2,81,126.62 crore, call and put options of silver and silver-mini traded for Rs.9,358.83 crore. In the energy segment options, call and put options of crude oil traded for Rs.3,74,641.69 crore and call and put options of natural gas traded for Rs.89,822.24 crore.
