Ahmedabad, Nov 03, On New Year’s Day, 5,259 emergencies were reported, compared to 4,504 on a Normal day and a forecast of 5,231, marking a 16.76% increase over the normal day emergencies in Gujarat.
According to 108 Emergency Response Service sources, 108-EMS Diwali, New Year Operation Insight: During the three days of Diwali, a total of 15,179 emergencies were recorded, with an average of 5,060 per day, reflecting a 12.34% increase from the Normal day average of 4,504 in Gujarat.
Burn-Related Emergencies:
In the last three days, there were 102 burn-related emergencies, with 38 on Diwali Day (31st Oct 2024), 40 on 1st Nov, and 24 on New Year’s Day (2nd Nov). This averaged 34 burn cases per day, a substantial increase from the normal trend of 4 cases per day, marking a 750% rise. The highest number of burn emergencies were reported in Ahmedabad (28), Surat (25), Rajkot (8), and Bharuch (7).
Physical Assault Emergencies: A total of 988 physical assault cases were received over the three days, with 323 on Diwali Day, 381 on 1st Nov, and 284 on New Year’s Day. This averaged 329 daily cases, up from a usual 144, representing an increase of 128.7%. Dahod, Panchmahal, Banaskantha, Rajkot, Surat, Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar, and Vadodara were the top districts, each averaging 10 or more daily cases and showing a significant increase.
Road Traffic Accidents (Trauma-Vehicular): A total of 2,829 road traffic accident cases were reported in the three days, with 921 on Diwali Day, 827 on 1st Nov, and 1,081 on New Year’s Day, averaging 943 daily cases. This shows a 96.05% rise from the normal average of 481 cases. Districts with the highest incidents, averaging 20 or more daily cases and showing notable increases, included Dahod, Chhotaudepur, Panchmahal, Navsari, Bharuch, Bhavnagar, Junagadh, Amreli, Sabarkantha, Kachchh, and Kheda.
Overall District-Wise Increase: Percentage increases in total emergencies were most prominent in Botad, Panchmahal, The Dangs, Aravalli, Dahod, Junagadh, and Sabarkantha. Ahmedabad showed an overall decrease in emergencies by 2.52%, but specific categories saw sharp rises: road accidents increased by 39.26%, physical assault cases by 123.81%, and burn-related cases, the highest at 28 incidents.
