~Over 200 participants trained across various skill courses during April to June 2025
Gandhinagar, Gujarat, Jun 07, NEEV, the community outreach program of the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN), successfully conducted six skill development courses during April to June 2025, for youth and women hailing from rural areas in Gandhinagar.
NEEV Program Manager, Soumya Harish said, “IIT Gandhinagar while being one of the top education institutes in the country, also believes in social impact through such projects in which women and youth from underserved communities gain the necessary skills to progress in life.”
NEEV is a community outreach program of IIT Gandhinagar that empowers women and youth from local communities through skills development, entrepreneurship, and livelihood programs. Since 2014, NEEV has conducted over 170 social impact projects and activities for 7100+ beneficiaries from 40+ villages and nearby peri-urban areas in Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad.
A total of 209 participants were trained through these courses which range from 6 to 9 weeks in duration. The courses were conducted in partnership with Desai Foundation Trust and with support from Milacron India Pvt Ltd.
29 participants in Stitching course, 24 participants in Beautician course, 86 participants in two batches of basic Computer course, 32 participants in Spoken-English course, 38 participants in Tally course, received certificates at the closing session held on June 06, 2025.
Anar Patel, noted Social Entrepreneur and Philanthropist – the co-founder of Manav Sadhna NGO that serves slum children, and founder of Craftroots that promotes the artisans of Gujarat – graced the event as the chief guest.
Smt Patel congratulated the participants and emphasised the importance of applying the skills learnt from the course for the betterment of their education and career as well as for service to society.
