~Adani Power improves its ESG score to 66 from 65 in FY26, retaining the “Aspiring” category in NSE Sustainability’s assessment.

Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Sep 07 (VNI): Adani Power Limited, India’s largest private sector thermal power generator, has improved its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance score to 66, compared with 65 in FY26, according to the company.
The company continues to rank higher than other major Indian thermal, mixed-fuel and integrated energy companies, while retaining its position in the “Aspiring” category assessed by NSE Sustainability. NSE Sustainability, a subsidiary of NSE Indices and part of the National Stock Exchange of India Group, is a SEBI-registered ESG Rating Provider that annually evaluates 500 listed Indian companies.
Adani Power said its ESG initiatives include the deployment of advanced low-emission technologies such as Ultra-Supercritical Units, continuous emissions monitoring, energy-efficiency measures, water conservation and responsible waste management. The company has also expanded community programmes covering education, healthcare and skill development, including scholarships, health camps and livelihood enhancement initiatives.
On governance, the company said it exceeds several regulatory requirements, including independent director representation on its Nomination and Remuneration Committee, Audit Committee and Risk Management Committee. It has also implemented ESG standards for suppliers and contractors across its value chain.
In other recent assessments, Adani Power said it scored 71/100 in S&P Global’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment, 4.3/5.0 in the FTSE Russell ESG rating, and 80/100 in the FY26 CareEdge ESG Rating, placing it in the “Leadership” category and 35% above the industry median. The company said these independent assessments reinforce its continued focus on sustainable and responsible business practices.
