~Torrent Green Energy commissions 322 MWp decentralized solar projects across 50 locations in Nashik, Maharashtra, under MSKVY 2.0 and PM-KUSUM.

Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Sep 08 (VNI): Torrent Green Energy Private Limited, a Torrent Group company and wholly owned subsidiary of Torrent Power Limited, has successfully commissioned 322 MWp of ground-mounted decentralized solar power projects across Nashik district of Maharashtra under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY) 2.0.
According to the company, the project has been developed across 50 locations spanning 14 talukas of Nashik district, making it one of the most extensive and geographically diversified agricultural feeder solarisation projects implemented under the MSKVY framework. Power generated from the projects will be supplied to Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement.
The project aligns with the Government of India’s objectives of agricultural solarisation and energy self-reliance. By establishing local solar plants to power rural agricultural feeders, the initiative is expected to provide daytime electricity to farmers, improve grid efficiency, reduce distribution losses and promote sustainable agriculture.
The company said successful execution of the complex multi-location project required coordinated efforts involving land-related matters, grid connectivity, local clearances, engineering and simultaneous construction activities across several sites.
“The project stands as a testimony to the collaborative efforts of MSEDCL, local administration, landowners, project partners, contractors, and the dedicated team of Torrent. This milestone reinforces Torrent’s commitment to supporting India’s clean energy transition while empowering the agricultural sector with reliable and sustainable daytime electricity supply,” said Jigish Mehta, Whole-Time Director, Torrent Power Ltd.
