Ahmedabad, Gujarat, October 19 (VNI): Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Bhai Patel will inaugurate the 22nd Annual Conference of the Indian Arthroplasty Association (IAA), IAACON 2026, scheduled to be held from October 23 to 25 at The Forum Convention on Club O7 Road in Ahmedabad. The three-day international conference will bring together leading orthopaedic surgeons, joint replacement specialists and medical experts from India and abroad to discuss the latest advancements in arthroplasty, including robotic-assisted surgery, artificial intelligence and innovative joint replacement techniques.
Organised around the theme “Evolving Arthroplasty – Robotics, Kinematics and Innovation,” IAACON 2026 is expected to attract more than 1,000 delegates and 150 national and international faculty members. The scientific programme will feature 25 interactive sessions, approximately 30 surgical videos, expert panel discussions and workshops covering artificial intelligence, robotic-assisted surgery, surgical navigation, complex joint infections and periprosthetic fractures. A dedicated session by Dr. H.P. Bhalodia will focus on AI-assisted total hip replacement using Intellijoint technology.
A major highlight of IAACON 2026 will be a cadaveric workshop on October 22 at B.J. Medical College and Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad. Described as the first large-scale workshop of its kind in the history of the Indian Arthroplasty Association, the programme will use 12 cadaveric specimens to demonstrate the Direct Anterior Approach to hip replacement, Unicondylar Knee Arthroplasty, Total Knee Arthroplasty and Reverse Shoulder Arthroplasty. Ten international faculty members from Australia, Ireland, the United States and the United Kingdom will participate in the conference, bringing global expertise and clinical insights to the event.
The conference will also feature the IAA consensus document aimed at supporting surgical decision-making, the C.S. Ranawat Gold Medal Competition, in which two papers will be selected, and the C.S. Ranawat Memorial Lecture to be delivered by Dr. Parag Sancheti. Dr. Dhiraj Marothi Jain, Organising Secretary, will be part of the conference’s organising leadership, contributing to academic exchange, professional collaboration and practical learning opportunities for participants.
IAACON 2026 aims to provide a platform for orthopaedic surgeons, postgraduate residents and eligible medical professionals to exchange clinical knowledge, explore emerging technologies and discuss evolving practices in joint replacement surgery. The conference is expected to strengthen professional collaboration and encourage the adoption of innovative approaches to arthroplasty in India.
The cadaveric workshop will take place on October 22 at B.J. Medical College and Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad, while the main conference will be held from October 23 to 25 at The Forum Convention, Club O7 Road, Ahmedabad.
