~GSFC University held its 8th Convocation in Vadodara, conferring degrees on 815 students. Female students secured 12 of the 17 Gold Medals.
Vadodara, Gujarat, Aug 29 (VNI): The 8th Convocation Ceremony of GSFC University was held on Saturday at Fertilizernagar, Vadodara, marking a significant milestone in the academic journey of graduating students. Degrees were conferred upon 815 students from the School of Technology, School of Science and School of Management and Entrepreneurship, comprising 488 male and 327 female students.
Padma Bhushan Dr V. K. Saraswat, former Director General, DRDO, and former Member of NITI Aayog, was the Chief Guest. He conferred Gold Medals upon 17 students and Silver Medals upon 15 students. Female students once again demonstrated outstanding academic performance, securing 12 of the 17 Gold Medals. The degrees were conferred by Shri P. K. Taneja, IAS (Retd.), President, GSFC University.
Vice Chancellor Professor G. R. Sinha presented the University Report, highlighting the institution’s academic growth, achievements, research initiatives, industry engagement and student development. The ceremony was attended by members of the Governing Body and Board of Management, government officials, senior officials of GSFC Limited and GSFC University, industry leaders, faculty and staff members, graduating students and their parents.
Addressing the graduating students, Shri P. K. Taneja congratulated all 815 graduates and the medal winners and acknowledged the support of parents, faculty and mentors. He said the convocation marked not only the culmination of years of hard work but also the beginning of a new journey of opportunities, aspirations and responsibilities. He highlighted GSFC University’s growth over the past 11 years from two academic programmes to a multidisciplinary institution offering 26 programmes to more than 3,400 students.
He reiterated the University’s focus on its three strategic pillars — Industry-Aligned, Technology-Driven and Future-Ready — supported by industry collaborations, experiential learning, research and innovation. He also highlighted the 100 per cent placement achievement in B.Tech Chemical Engineering, B.Tech Fire & EHS and M.Sc Chemistry.
In his convocation address, Dr V. K. Saraswat congratulated the graduates, medal winners, parents and faculty members. Appreciating GSFC University’s focus on experiential learning and industry engagement, he highlighted the role of universities in preparing young people to contribute to India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat @ 2047 through technology, innovation and self-reliance.
Dr Saraswat urged the graduates to continuously learn, adapt and innovate in a rapidly changing technological environment. He emphasised scientific temperament, digital skills, critical thinking, collaboration, resilience, integrity and character, and encouraged the graduates to transform their knowledge into meaningful solutions and contribute to society and nation-building.
The ceremony marked the completion of the students’ formal education at GSFC University and the beginning of a new chapter in their professional and personal lives, with graduates set to pursue diverse pathways across industry, higher education, research, entrepreneurship and other professional fields. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri Manish Pradhan, Registrar, GSFC University.
