~GTU’s national seminar on AI and quantum technologies brought together 350 participants, featuring research discussions, expert sessions and 90 posters across eight themes.

Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Oct 06 (VNI): Gujarat Technological University (GTU) School of Engineering and Technology organised a two-day National Seminar on “AI and Quantum Frontiers: Research, Innovation and Future Technologies for India’s Economic Growth” at the GTU Chandkheda Campus recently, bringing together around 350 students, academicians, researchers and technology experts to explore emerging advancements in artificial intelligence and quantum technologies.

The seminar was supported by the Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat, Government of Gujarat, under Vikas Saptah 2026. The Poster Presentation Programme received 100 registrations, of which 90 posters were shortlisted after primary scrutiny. These included 57 posters from Engineering, 26 from Pharmacy, three from Management and four from Computer Applications. The posters were evaluated by expert jury panels across eight themes covering quantum computing and quantum machine learning, healthcare AI, responsible AI, Industry 4.0, cybersecurity and sustainability, clinical applications, pharmaceutical innovation and applied AI.
The inaugural ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the lamp in the presence of Dr. Vaibhav D. Bhatt, Vice-Chancellor In-Charge, GTU; Dr. K. N. Kher, Registrar, GTU; Dr. Madhuri Bhavsar, Director, GTU School of Engineering and Technology; and Dr. R. A. Thakker, Advisor, Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies. Dr. Madhuri Bhavsar highlighted the growing importance of artificial intelligence and quantum technologies for society and industry, while Dr. K. N. Kher discussed quantum communication, secure information systems, machine learning, computer vision, quantum hardware and AI-quantum hybrid technologies, with emphasis on their role in building secure and intelligent systems.
Dr. Vaibhav D. Bhatt stressed that technological progress must remain aligned with human values, societal needs and the responsible use of AI. He emphasised the important role of universities in research, innovation and responsible technology development. Dr. R. A. Thakker encouraged students to move beyond merely using technology and contribute to its creation through research and innovation.
The two-day programme featured expert sessions, research discussions and poster presentations across disciplines. It provided participants with opportunities to present their research, receive feedback from specialists and explore possibilities for interdisciplinary collaboration in AI and quantum technologies.
The event was successfully coordinated by Dr. Seema Joshi and Dr. Dhwani Modi, with the support of all members of the GTU-SET organising committee.
