~HCG Aastha Cancer Centre hosted The Pink Run 2.0 in Ahmedabad with over 2,500 participants to promote breast cancer awareness, early detection and timely care.

Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Oct 04 (VNI): HCG Aastha Cancer Centre, Ahmedabad, hosted ‘The Pink Run 2.0’, bringing together families, friends, fitness enthusiasts and members of the community to unite in support of breast cancer awareness. The event focused on breast health, early detection and the importance of timely medical care, turning community participation into a wider conversation around breast cancer awareness.
Organised in three categories — the 5 km Family Fun Walk, 10 km Run for Hope and 15 km Pink Challenge — the initiative received around 3,000 registrations, with more than 2,500 participants taking part. The strong participation reflected growing community interest in supporting breast cancer awareness and encouraging open conversations around breast health and early detection.
Dr. D.G. Vijay, Head – Breast Cancer Surgery Department, HCG Aastha Cancer Centre, Ahmedabad, said, “Breast cancer care has evolved significantly, but awareness and timely intervention remain critical to improving outcomes. Women should not hesitate to consult a specialist when they notice a persistent or unusual change in their breasts. It is equally important to understand that breast cancer care is not only about surgery but involves a multidisciplinary approach tailored to each patient. Creating awareness at the community level can help more women come forward and access the right care at the right time.”
Breast cancer remains a major global health concern and is the most common cancer among women worldwide, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Early detection, timely diagnosis and comprehensive management are important components of improving outcomes. A new lump or thickening, changes in breast size or shape, skin or nipple alterations, or unusual discharge may warrant medical evaluation. While not every change indicates cancer, persistent or unusual symptoms should not be ignored. Through ‘The Pink Run 2.0’, HCG Aastha Cancer Centre sought to encourage open dialogue, reduce hesitation around medical consultations and empower women to seek timely care.
Dr. Bharat Gadhavi, Regional Director – Gujarat & Rajasthan, HCG, said, “Breast cancer awareness is not limited to understanding the disease; it is also about creating a culture where women feel comfortable prioritising their health and seeking medical advice when something feels different. Community initiatives such as The Pink Run help take this message beyond the clinical setting and make conversations around breast health more open and accessible. Through this initiative, our aim is to encourage greater awareness, timely action and the understanding that early attention can make an important difference in the cancer journey.”
Beyond the course, the event reinforced HCG Aastha Cancer Centre’s commitment to taking cancer care advocacy into the community. The centre has a 217-bed capacity and more than 100 in-house specialists covering surgical, medical and radiation oncology, nuclear medicine, paediatric haemato-oncology and advanced diagnostics, supported by a multidisciplinary approach to cancer care.
Dr. Tanay Shah, Breast Onco Surgeon, HCG Aastha Cancer Centre, Ahmedabad, said, “Early detection continues to play an important role in breast cancer care. Women should be encouraged to understand their breast health, be aware of any unusual changes and seek medical evaluation without waiting for symptoms to become significant. Events like The Pink Run create an opportunity to take this message to a wider audience and reinforce that timely consultation and appropriate screening can help in identifying breast cancer at an earlier stage.”
Held under the central theme ‘A Run of Strength. A Stride Against Breast Cancer’, ‘The Pink Run 2.0’ brought together people across age groups and fitness levels. The initiative underscored that breast cancer awareness goes beyond recognising the disease and requires a supportive community ecosystem where women feel empowered to prioritise their health, recognise potential warning signs and seek early, comprehensive care.
