~T-Mobile and Jio achieve the world’s first 5G Standalone roaming connection through Syniverse, enabling seamless cross-border 5G connectivity.
Bellevue, Washington, Sep 22 (VNI): T-Mobile and Jio have achieved the world’s first 5G Standalone (SA) roaming connection, marking a major milestone in global wireless connectivity through interoperability enabled by Syniverse. The achievement enables T-Mobile customers to experience true 5G SA roaming while traveling internationally, according to Jio, and sets a new benchmark for seamless cross-border 5G connectivity.
Jio said the development demonstrates that a seamless next-generation network experience is now becoming a reality. 5G SA roaming delivers faster speeds, lower latency and more reliable connections, paving the way for applications in Internet of Things (IoT), real-time communications and immersive technologies that depend on consistent, high-performance global connectivity.
The milestone was made possible by Syniverse’s connectivity platform, which provides secure and seamless interconnection between networks and helps accelerate the global adoption of next-generation roaming. The platform also supports operators in testing, validating and launching 5G SA roaming capabilities as more networks become 5G-ready.
