~13 women students of IIT Gandhinagar receive the Rupa Rahul Bajaj Scholarship for Women in Engineering, supporting education, mentorship and career development.
Gandhinagar, Gujarat, Aug 28 (VNI): Thirteen women students of the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) have been selected as recipients of the Rupa Rahul Bajaj Scholarship for Women in Engineering (RRBSWE), an initiative aimed at supporting meritorious women pursuing undergraduate engineering education and encouraging greater participation of women in engineering and manufacturing careers.
The scholarship provides financial assistance as well as opportunities for mentorship, industry exposure, professional and leadership development, wellbeing support and alumni engagement. The occasion also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IITGN and Bajaj Auto Foundation to further strengthen collaboration under the scholarship programme.
The MoU establishes a framework for scholarship awareness and outreach, student application support, verification of student and academic information, coordination of scholarship disbursement and renewal, and scholar engagement and development activities.
IITGN Director Prof Rajat Moona said Bajaj’s commitment to education and women’s participation reflects values shared by the institute. He said IITGN has consciously worked to create greater opportunities for women and described the partnership as mutually supportive, with students being the ultimate beneficiaries.
Sudhakar Gudipati, Vice President–CSR, Bajaj Group, said the programme was launched to support meritorious women engineering students and encourage more women to enter the field. He said the initiative aims to invest in their education, provide wider exposure and encourage them to contribute to the country’s industrial growth, with plans to expand the programme in the coming years.
The event was attended by scholarship recipients and representatives of IITGN and Bajaj Auto Foundation, including Prof Pratik Mutha, Dean, Institutional Advancement, IITGN, and Prof Manish Kumar, Dean, Student Affairs, IITGN. Scholarship recipients also shared their experiences. BTech second-year Mechanical Engineering student Shambhavi Kumari said the scholarship had reduced the financial burden on her family and strengthened her confidence. Alka Kushwaha, a BTech second-year Electrical Engineering student and scholarship Student Ambassador, said being selected again and later becoming a Brand Ambassador had made her journey more meaningful.
