~CEPT University and SOUADTGA sign an MoU to promote experiential learning, educational visits, research and academic engagement at the Statue of Unity.
Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Aug 24 (VNI): CEPT Professional Programs (CPP), the executive education arm of CEPT University, and the Statue of Unity Area Development & Tourism Governance Authority (SOUADTGA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote experiential learning and academic engagement through educational visits and programmes at the Statue of Unity.
Under the collaboration, students and faculty members of CEPT University, including participants of CEPT Professional Programs, will get opportunities to study the planning, development, management and administration of the Statue of Unity. The initiative will provide practical exposure to heritage conservation, tourism management, urban planning and public administration.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Mukesh Puri, IAS, Chairman and Managing Director, Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited; Narayan Madhu, Additional Collector, SOUADTGA; Prof. Barjor Mehta, President, CEPT University; Anita Hiranandani, Registrar, CEPT University; Prof. Saswat Bandopadhyay, Professor, CEPT University; and Prof. Subhrangsu Goswami, Dean, CEPT Professional Programs.
The three-year collaboration will facilitate guided site visits, interactions with officials, joint academic programmes, workshops and research initiatives for degree students as well as professional learners. The partnership aims to provide students with first-hand exposure to the complexities of managing a major tourism and development destination.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Saswat Bandopadhyay said the Statue of Unity would serve as a “living lab” where students could understand tourism management and public administration at an exceptional scale while also engaging with the realities of a rural landscape. Mukesh Puri said unity and sustainability had guided the development of the site and expressed the expectation that CEPT students could contribute fresh ideas to further enhance visitor experiences.
