~Gautam Adani urges CareEdge to develop a new credit framework for integrated platform infrastructure, focusing on ecosystem value and strategic resilience.

Mumbai, Maharashtra, Aug 31 (VNI): Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani has urged CareEdge Group, one of India’s leading credit rating institutions, to develop what he described as the world’s first comprehensive Credit Framework for Integrated Platform Infrastructure, questioning why such a framework should not originate from India and why the country should not lead the effort.
Mr. Adani said his association with CareEdge Group spans nearly two decades, with the relationship now extending to more than ₹3 lakh crore of rated assets across over 100 entities. He said the changing nature of India’s infrastructure requires rating institutions to reconsider how risks and opportunities are assessed. Traditional analytical frameworks were largely developed when infrastructure evolved incrementally and individual assets could be evaluated in isolation through single-asset discounted cash-flow models.
He outlined three categories of infrastructure—replacement infrastructure, where established approaches remain effective; growth infrastructure, where assessments need to capture ecosystem effects and multiplier value; and platform infrastructure, where multiple layers combine to create new demand, ecosystems and capabilities. Citing Mundra Port in Gujarat, Vizhinjam International Seaport in Kerala and the Khavda renewable energy development, he said the value of such projects extends beyond individual assets to interconnected networks and strategic resilience.
Referring to Khavda’s 30-gigawatt renewable energy development, Mr. Adani said its significance lies in the convergence of energy, artificial intelligence, manufacturing and digital infrastructure. He noted that AI at scale will require not only algorithms and software but also land, data centres, cooling systems, transmission infrastructure and large volumes of clean and reliable energy. “The real value in today’s age is being created at the intersection, where ‘energy + data + manufacturing’ converge,” he said.
Mr. Adani stressed that the proposed framework should not mean lower standards or compromised independence. “We do not need lower standards but we need wider lenses,” he said, calling for dynamic models that recognise ecosystem multipliers, adjacency value and strategic resilience. He said a framework developed in India could potentially become a benchmark for emerging economies, while emphasising that the discipline of credit assessment must be preserved while making it capable of capturing the value created across integrated infrastructure platforms.
