~IIMA has established the Mattu Centre for Research in Security Pricing and Corporate Finance to strengthen finance research, develop India-specific financial databases, and promote collaboration among academia, industry, and policymakers.
Ahmedabad, Gujarat, July 13 (VNI): The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has established the Mattu Centre for Research in Security Pricing and Corporate Finance, a new Centre of Excellence dedicated to advancing research in asset pricing, corporate finance, corporate governance, and financial economics. The Centre aims to strengthen India’s finance research ecosystem by building India-specific research databases and promoting collaboration among academia, industry, regulators, and policymakers.
The Centre has been established through the philanthropic support of Ravi Mattu, an IIMA PGP 1979 alumnus and former Managing Director & Global Head of Analytics at Pacific Investment Management Co. LLC. (PIMCO). It will develop robust financial databases and analytical resources to support high-quality empirical research while encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration to address the evolving needs of India’s financial markets.
The Centre will also serve as a platform for nurturing finance research scholars focused on Indian capital markets and will organise seminars, conferences, workshops, and distinguished lectures to promote knowledge-sharing between researchers, practitioners, regulators, and policymakers. Its Governing Council will be led by IIMA Director Professor Bharat Bhasker, with Professor Joshy Jacob and Professor Ellapulli Vasudevan as Co-Chairpersons, alongside eminent academicians, industry leaders, and distinguished IIMA alumni.
Speaking on the initiative, Professor Bharat Bhasker said the Centre would help create India-specific financial databases, strengthen research capabilities, and develop future generations of researchers and regulators. Ravi Mattu said the Centre would promote collaborative research between Indian and US finance scholars, facilitate dialogue with Indian regulators, create a comprehensive securities price database, and support early-career finance researchers in India.
The Centre will undertake research across asset pricing, investments, market microstructure, corporate finance, and corporate governance. It has been established through the IIMA Endowment Fund (IIMAEF), reinforcing IIMA’s commitment to advancing research excellence, innovation, and evidence-based public policy through philanthropy.
