~IIM Ahmedabad concluded a 10-day Faculty Development Programme on Entrepreneurship for 25 NIFT faculty members, focusing on innovation, startup ecosystems, and entrepreneurship education.
Gandhinagar, Gujarat, Aug. 03 (VNI): IIM Ahmedabad successfully concluded a 10-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Entrepreneurship for 25 faculty members from NIFT campuses across India. Coordinated by NIFT Gandhinagar, the programme was designed to strengthen entrepreneurship education by equipping educators with practical knowledge, mentoring skills, and innovation-driven teaching approaches aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat.
The valedictory ceremony was attended by Professor Bharat Bhasker, Director of IIM Ahmedabad, and Dr. Sameer Sood, Director of NIFT Gandhinagar. Congratulating the participants, Professor Bhasker emphasized the importance of lifelong learning and highlighted that entrepreneurship requires not only innovative ideas but also strong business acumen. He noted that IIMA Ventures has supported over 3,000 startups, deployed nearly ₹180 crore in catalytic capital, and facilitated investments exceeding ₹800 crore, while inviting NIFT faculty to collaborate in nurturing fashion and design-based startups.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sameer Sood underlined the vital role of textiles, tourism, and technology in realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat. He stressed that India’s progress depends on the prosperity of its villages and highlighted the importance of textiles, handicrafts, and artisan-based industries in creating sustainable livelihoods. He also announced NIFT’s proposed Launchpad Initiative, which will establish Entrepreneurship Cells across all NIFT campuses to mentor student entrepreneurs and promote innovation-led ventures.
The intensive programme included expert lectures, case discussions, workshops, mentoring sessions, and interactions with IIMA Ventures, covering startup incubation, business model development, intellectual property, venture financing, and entrepreneurial leadership. The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates, with participants reaffirming their commitment to advancing entrepreneurship education and fostering vibrant startup ecosystems across NIFT campuses.
