~AESL reported record Q1 FY27 performance with capex rising to ₹3,498 crore, strong transmission and distribution growth, proposed IntelliSmart acquisition and major renewable energy expansion.
Ahmedabad, Gujarat, July 21 (VNI): Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) has reported a strong start to FY27, with its Energy Solutions Platform delivering record performance during the first quarter ended June 30, 2026. The company’s capital expenditure (capex) increased 1.57 times year-on-year to ₹3,498 crore in Q1 FY27, compared with ₹2,224 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.
AESL, India’s largest private transmission, distribution, smart metering and energy solutions platform, said the quarter was marked by robust financial performance, operational excellence and strategic expansion. CEO Kandarp Patel said the proposed acquisition of IntelliSmart would significantly strengthen AESL’s smart metering business, while renewable energy partnerships and an expanding consumer base across utilities, commercial and industrial sectors, and data centres are accelerating growth of the company’s Energy Solutions Platform.
The transmission business maintained an average system availability of over 99.6%, earning ₹35 crore as incentive income due to high transmission line availability. AESL currently has a transmission project pipeline of 13 projects worth ₹71,779 crore, while near-term transmission bidding opportunities remain strong at around ₹1.1 lakh crore.
In the distribution segment, Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd. (AEML) maintained 99.99% supply reliability, with electricity sales rising 11% to 3,260 million units (MUs) in Q1 FY27. MPSEZ (Mundra) Utility Ltd. (MUL) reported a 57% increase in units sold to 425 MUs, driven by higher industrial and commercial demand. AESL also announced plans to acquire IntelliSmart, which would expand its smart metering portfolio to more than 47 million smart meters, making it India’s largest smart metering platform.
The company further strengthened its Energy Solutions Platform with renewable energy tie-ups of around 4 GW across solar and wind projects, 3.3 GWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and an energy portfolio exceeding 1 GW across commercial & industrial consumers, data centres and utilities.
