~AMA Ahmedabad hosts “Chitthi Aayi Hai: India’s Postal Heritage,” featuring a rare collection of Indian postcards and showcasing India’s rich postal heritage.
Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Sep 18 (VNI): The Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA) is hosting a special exhibition titled “Chitthi Aayi Hai: India’s Postal Heritage,” curated by Dr. Dhimant Purohit, from Friday, September 18, to Sunday, September 20, 2026. The exhibition showcases India’s rich postal heritage through a rare collection of Indian postcards.
The exhibition was inaugurated on Friday by Chief Guest Ganesh V. Sawaleshwarkar, Chief Postmaster General, Gujarat Circle, Department of Posts, Government of India, and Guest of Honor Dr. Shivang Swaminarayan, Physician to the Governor of Gujarat, philatelist and enthusiastic postcard collector.
Dr. Dhimant Purohit said the exhibition highlights the rich postal heritage of India and presents a rare collection of Indian postcards. The display offers visitors an opportunity to explore the historical significance of postcards and their role in documenting communication and social heritage.
Ganesh V. Sawaleshwarkar noted that postcards have served as a medium for knowledge exchange and preservation. He also highlighted their relevance as a form of digital detox in an era dominated by social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.
Dr. Shivang Swaminarayan said postcards are an integral part of India’s heritage. He noted that even in the digital age, postcards and the Department of Posts continue to serve as an important bridge for communication.
The exhibition will remain open to the public on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM each day.
