Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Aug 07 (VNI): CEPT University has welcomed its new postgraduate cohort of around 470 students enrolled across 17 postgraduate programmes in the University’s five faculties—Architecture, Planning, Design, Management and Technology.
The incoming cohort represents students from 25 states and Union Territories and more than 200 institutions across India. Gujarat and Maharashtra together account for 40 per cent of the cohort, while students from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Assam, Manipur, Tripura and Jammu and Kashmir further reflect CEPT’s expanding national reach.
Women constitute 57 per cent of the incoming postgraduate class, continuing the University’s multi-year trend of majority-women cohorts. The trend is also visible in programmes such as Structural Engineering Design, Construction Engineering and Management and Urban Planning, traditionally fields with higher male participation.
The academic backgrounds of students are also becoming increasingly diverse. While Bachelor of Architecture remains the most common qualifying degree, students are also entering postgraduate programmes with degrees in civil engineering, design, planning, sociology, law, economics and geography.
The Master’s in Planning programmes recorded the largest enrolment, accounting for more than one-fifth of the incoming cohort, followed by the Master’s in Construction Engineering and Management and Master’s in Urban Design. CEPT’s MBA programmes in Real Estate and Urban Management are also attracting students from varied academic backgrounds. The MBA in Real Estate, launched in January 2026, welcomed its first cohort comprising archaeologists, lawyers, architects, designers and civil engineers.
CEPT University said the diversity of the new cohort reflects growing interest in urban infrastructure, planning, real estate, policy and governance. With more than 11,000 alumni worldwide, the University continues to focus on preparing professionals for the built environment through academic rigour, ethical practice and creative inquiry.
