Ahmedabad, Gujarat, October 10 (VNI): Dr. Prerak Shah Ayurveda Activity, under the auspices of the Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA), is strengthening India–Japan cultural and academic ties by promoting Ayurveda, holistic wellness and healthy aging. Dr. Prerak Shah, Founder of Ayulink Ayurveda, a pioneer in clinical Panchakarma practice in Gujarat, and an internationally renowned Ayurveda consultant, teacher and motivational speaker, continues to advocate the role of traditional Indian medicine in improving individual and societal well-being.
As India and Japan prepare to celebrate the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in 2027, the longstanding cultural and philosophical connections between the two nations are finding renewed expression. From the ancient mind-body wisdom of Ayurveda to the mindful clarity of Zen, both traditions share a commitment to holistic health, balance, preventive care and longevity.
Strengthening this exchange, Dr. Prerak Shah was invited to Japan as a global keynote speaker at an international conference in Tokyo in August 2026. He was subsequently invited to deliver keynote addresses at two additional international conferences in October 2026: the 10th International Conference on Traditional Medicine, Ethnomedicine & Natural Therapies and the World Aging & Longevity Conference (WALC 2026).
At these international conferences, Dr. Shah highlighted the relevance of Ayurveda in addressing contemporary global health challenges, preventive healthcare and healthy aging. He also emphasised the philosophical connections between Ayurveda and Japanese Zen principles, focusing on daily discipline, nature-aligned living through Ritucharya and Dinacharya, and the pursuit of longevity. His participation underscored the potential of traditional knowledge systems to contribute to modern wellness practices and international knowledge exchange.
Dr. Shah also held high-level discussions with the President of the Ayurveda Association of Japan to explore stronger bilateral cooperation in traditional medicine education and wellness research. In addition, he delivered a special address at the Nippon School of Ayurveda in Tokyo, interacting with Japanese practitioners, researchers and students to encourage academic engagement and institutional collaboration.
Under the leadership of AMA’s Dr. Prerak Shah Ayurveda Activity and with the support of AMA’s Japan Centres, the initiative is creating opportunities for academic and cultural exchange ahead of the 2027 milestone. The effort seeks to strengthen people-to-people ties between India and Japan by placing traditional healthcare, shared wisdom and active aging at the centre of bilateral engagement.
The initiative marks an important step towards the 75th anniversary of India–Japan diplomatic relations in 2027, highlighting how Ayurveda and other traditional approaches to wellness can foster cross-cultural understanding, collaborative research and a shared commitment to healthier, longer lives.
